ORDER OF BOILED OWLS

Subject: November Meeting Minutes
The November 1998 meeting was held at the QTH of Frank Fix, K2AW
The meeting opened at 8:44pm , Jeff Singer-K2KV presiding.
Attending : KS2G, N2GA, W2LK, W2GGE, W2AX, K2KV, WM2V, N2UN, NA2M, N2FF,
and K2AW.
The Minutes of the October 5, 1998 meeting were read and accepted.
MATTERS DISCUSSED
The letter to the CAC drafted by Jeff-K2KV was reviewed and modified. It
was decided to send copies to other contest clubs as well. Larry-W2AX
volunteered to obtain names and addresses.
A discussion regarding member participation in contests followed.
Larry-W2AX said that the Contest Committees of both CQ and ARRL should be
notified with OBO members
identified.
CQWW Contest. Tony-N2UN proposed that OBO split the SSB contest scores
with YCCC. Bill-NA2M objected to this in view of our previous decision to
post all the points to the OBO. Bill said we agreed to post only the CQWW
CW contest to YCCC. He said that Jeff-K1ZM, president of YCCC, had
suggested that we split points according to contest, i.e., all CQWW
contest points credited to YCCC by YCCC members who are also Owls, and
all ARRL DX contest scores to the Owls. Larry-W2AX said if we were to
post points to YCCC for the CQWW SSB contest, it would have to be 5/9ths
of the total score at W2AX, there being 5 eligible YCCC members
participating. Bill said that since we had already committed our CQWW SSB
scores to the Owls, it should stand. No objection was heard. Bill added
that we should consider the K1ZM suggestion for the 1999 contest season.
George-N2GA said he will be in St. Lucia (J6) with the SWODXA for CQWW
CW. Larry-W2AX said CQWW CW (November 28-29) will use the K2LE call sign
in Vermont.
It was agreed that the ARRL 10-Meter contest (December 12-13) will be an
Owls competition.
Bill-NA2M recommended that the Owls use the WECA Repeater (147.060 - PL
114.8) for communications on Owls meeting dates. He said it has coverage
over a wide area. The purpose is to let members know when they are
enroute to the meetings.
Larry-W2AX mentioned plans to attend the Dayton Hamvention scheduled for
May 14-16, 1999. N2FF, WM2V, K2KV, N2GA, and NA2M plan to attend.
Nominations for 1999. The election of officers for 1999 will be held at
the December 7, 1998 meeting. The nominees are, president: W2YK, K2KV;
vice-president: W2LK, KS2G; treasurer: K2LE; secretary: NA2M; activities
manager: W2AX.
The December 7, 1998 meeting is scheduled at the K2LE QTH.
