Subject: Meeting Minutes
The March 1999 meeting was held at the QTH of Tony Japha, N2UN.
The meeting opened at 8:15 PM. Mel Granick-KS2G presiding in absence of
K2KV.
Attending: KS2G, N2GA, W2GGE, W2AX, W2LK, WM2V, N2UN, NA2M, W2YK, N2FF,
and K2SX.
The Minutes of the February 1999 meeting were read and accepted.
April Appeasement Dinner: Larry-W2AX reported that Restaurant Mario in
Hauppauge was the overwhelming choice by the members. A date of April 11
at 4:00pm is scheduled.
The members present voted in favor of round tables.
ARRL DX Contest (CW): Larry-W2AX reported that the K2LE operation made
over 7-million points and that they had a great time. The points are
being credited to OBO in view of previous decisions to credit ARRL
contests to OBO and CQ contests to YCCC.
ARRL DX Contest (Phone): Larry-W2AX reported that this contest has been
cancelled at his Vermont QTH. N2UN, K2KV, WM2V, W2YK, K2SX and N2FF plan
individual participation. Contest scores to be credited to OBO.
Bill-NA2M urged the participants to submit their scores via e-mail to
ARRL HQ. A lively discussion followed regarding OBO and YCCC
submissions. Bill-NA2M read the following from the November 1998 Minutes
"CQWW Contest. Tony-N2UN proposed that OBO split the SSB contest scores
with YCCC. Bill-NA2M objected to this in view of our previous decision
to post all the points to the OBO. Bill said we agreed to post only the
CQWW CW contest to YCCC. He said that Jeff-K1ZM, president of YCCC, had
suggested that we split points according to contest, i.e., all CQWW
contest points credited to YCCC by YCCC members who are also Owls, and
all ARRL DX contest scores to the Owls. Larry-W2AX said if we were to
post points to YCCC for the CQWW SSB contest, it would have to be 5/9ths
of the total score at W2AX, there being 5 eligible YCCC members
participating. Bill said that since we had already committed our CQWW
SSB scores to the Owls, it should stand. No objection was heard.
Bill added that we should consider the K1ZM suggestion for the 1999
contest season."
Frank-N2FF proposed a certification of ARRL-CW points to OBO in 1999.
Nine in favor: Two opposed (N2UN & K2SX).
Jerry-WM2V proposed a certification of ARRL-SSB points to OBO in 1999.
Eight in favor: Three opposed (N2FF, N2UN & K2SX).
Tony-N2UN proposed a certification of CQ CW/SSB points to YCCC in 1999.
Ten in favor: One opposed (K2SX).
Dxpedition: George-N2GA said he has nothing to report at this time.
Dayton Hamvention: Seven and possibly eight members plan to attend.
Bill-NA2M reported that he would not be going this year due to a family
commitment.
CQ-WPX SSB Contest March 27/28. Mel-KS2G said he planned to participate
using the KW2O OBO call sign. George N2GA reported plans to participate from
home as WV2LI in the SSB Contest in March and from VP5 as VP5GA in the May CW
Contest.
Frank-N2FF reported that the FCC is doing well on enforcement.
Meeting adjourned at 9:21pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 3, 1999 at the QTH of Jeff-K2KV.
